Turning Back the Clock: How to Fight the Normal Signs of Aging

According to a poll conducted by Pfizer, 87% of Americans say they’re afraid of getting old. Among the reasons listed were cognitive decline, illness, and of course, wrinkles.

But what if there were some things you could do today to fight the normal signs of aging?

Below, you’ll find tips on how you can turn back the hands of time in just a few minutes each day.

Watch Your Diet

As the old saying goes, you are what you eat. And while you may have been able to put away the hottest of hot wings in your younger days, your stomach and metabolism get more sensitive as you age.

Suddenly, the foods you once enjoyed can leave you feeling like garbage for days at a time.

While you won’t need to cut these foods out entirely, you will want to work around them.

Keep fatty and fried foods to a minimum, saving them as a special treat. The same should be done for spicy foods, alcohol, and sweets.

Get More Exercise

Your diet is only part of the equation, however. You’ll also want to start working out on a consistent basis.

Studies from the CDC show that a combination of cardio mixed with some brief weight training can prevent a number of illnesses associated with the aging process such as heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.

What’s more, you won’t have to spend a whole afternoon in the gym to experience these benefits. As little as 30-45 minutes per day, 5 times per week is more than sufficient.

Keep Your Brain Active

Good news for those who love jigsaw puzzles or sudoku! Keeping your brain sharp and active by completing puzzles every day is an efficient way to stave off cognitive aging and might even be an effective way to prevent Alzheimer’s.

Plus, there are plenty of puzzle apps designed for the specific purpose of helping reverse the aging process.

It’s easier than ever to take care of your mind.

Take Care of Your Skin

When most people think about the aging process, one thing comes to mind: Wrinkles.

While wrinkles are something that we’ll all have to deal with to an extent, there are some steps you can add to your skincare routine to make wrinkles less noticeable.

Using a face ice roller, for instance, is a great way to naturally reduce inflammation or wrinkle visibility.

You’ll also want to moisturize every day, as well.

You can also visit a sauna once every few weeks as a treat, as steam can be a great way to minimize wrinkles.

Fight the Normal Signs of Aging With These Tips

It’s important to remember that even with the above tips, the normal signs of aging are just that — normal. There’s only so much you can do at the end of the day and that’s alright.

Accepting the aging process is a healthy, beautiful way to live your life.
